Threadworks was founded by Ben, a young entrepreneur with a lifelong passion for creativity, sustainability, and business. Growing up in the rolling countryside and rugged coastline of West Dorset, Ben developed a deep appreciation for nature. Long walks with his mum and sailing trips with his dad instilled a love for the outdoors—but also an awareness of how even the most remote places were not untouched by waste.
Seeing litter appear on otherwise pristine beaches sparked an early commitment to sustainability, a commitment that continues today through his work and lifestyle—right down to converting his entire family to electric vehicles. From an early age, Ben had an entrepreneurial spirit.
At just 15, he ran an ice cream outlet within a local tea room, an experience that introduced him to the realities of running a business—from building trust with suppliers to handling unexpected challenges like power outages that ruined valuable stock. When the business closed shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic, Ben was undeterred.
Instead, he pivoted, opening an Etsy store selling printed tote bags using heat transfers, which later led to sublimation and embroidery. This curiosity for production and branding laid the foundation for what would become Threadworks.
His journey wasn’t linear. Along the way, he experimented with different ventures, including a clothing brand designed for taller individuals like himself (standing at 6’4”) and his brother (6’8”), who both struggled to find stylish, well-fitting clothing. While this project took a backseat, the experience reinforced Ben’s passion for creating meaningful products that solve real problems.
Threadworks began when Ben started using his embroidery machine to produce uniforms for his uncle’s business. Soon, friends and local businesses were asking for their own custom merchandise, and Threadworks was born. What started as a small venture quickly grew into a full-fledged business, dedicated to crafting high-quality, sustainable merchandise for brands that share a commitment to ethical production and innovative design.
Today, Threadworks is more than just a business—it’s a platform for conscious connections. Ben is constantly looking ahead, excited by the future and the projects on the horizon. From developing Live Wilde, an eco-conscious children's clothing brand, to revisiting ideas for accessible fashion, his ambition is to create something truly impactful.
With every product, Threadworks carries forward the values that first inspired its founder: sustainability, creativity, and a drive to do things differently.
A message from Ben:
"The journey so far has been filled with challenges and lessons, but the future is bright. Threadworks is not just about merchandise—it’s about telling stories, building brands, and creating a more sustainable and inclusive world. I look forward to our future, and I hope you do too."
